What Is Step Up for Students?

Florida's scholarship program β€” explained simply.

Step Up for Students is a Florida nonprofit that administers several education scholarship programs on behalf of the state. These scholarships give families the freedom to choose where and how their children learn β€” including homeschooling with outside support from vetted providers.

Scholarship funds are held in an Education Marketplace Account (EMA) in your family’s name. You β€” the parent β€” direct payments to approved providers after services are rendered. No provider, including us, ever handles your EMA account.

The Bridge Collective Florida is in the process of establishing our provider account through Step Up for Students. Our services β€” including educational consulting, accredited part-time tutoring, and enrichment programs β€” may be eligible expenses under multiple scholarship types.

Common Questions

Your scholarship questions,
answered plainly.

And if we don’t know, we’ll help you find who does. For official eligibility rulings, always go directly to Step Up for Students.

Can I use my Step Up scholarship funds with The Bridge Collective?

Our services β€” including part-time tutoring and enrichment classes β€” may be eligible for Step Up scholarship reimbursement depending on your scholarship type (PEP, FES-UA, FES-EO, or FTC). Scholarship payments are directed by you through your own EMA account after services are rendered. We recommend confirming specific eligibility directly with Step Up for Students at (877) 735-7837.

Will you ever ask for my EMA account access?

Never. Your EMA account is private and belongs only to you. We will never ask for your username, password, or any access to your scholarship account. Doing so would violate Step Up for Students policy, and we take that seriously. You log in to your own account and direct payment to us after services are rendered β€” that’s how it’s supposed to work.

I have a PEP scholarship. What services qualify?

The PEP scholarship has the broadest range of eligible expenses among Step Up scholarships, and it was specifically designed to support parent-directed learning. Our educational consulting, accredited part-time tutoring, and enrichment programs may all qualify. We’ll walk you through exactly what documentation to keep and how to submit through your EMA account.

My child has a qualifying diagnosis. Do they need FES-UA?

Not necessarily β€” some families with eligible diagnoses may hold PEP instead, which also offers broad coverage. FES-UA is specifically designed for students with qualifying disabilities or unique learning needs and may cover specialized tutoring and educational services from credentialed providers. Contact Step Up for Students directly to determine which scholarship best fits your child’s situation, then reach out to us so we can help match services accordingly.

Is your fee schedule publicly available?

Yes β€” per Step Up for Students program requirements, our full tuition and fee schedule is published and available upon request. Contact us directly to receive current program pricing. As we activate our EMA provider listing, pricing will also be available there. All curriculum offered through our in-person programs is available for parent review.

What documentation do I need for reimbursement?

Typically, you’ll need a service receipt or invoice showing what was provided, the date, and the amount. We provide all of this for every service rendered. The exact documentation requirements depend on your scholarship type β€” we’ll walk you through what you need when we connect. Step Up for Students is always the authoritative source for reimbursement requirements.

I'm not sure which scholarship I have. Can you still help?

Absolutely. Just reach out and tell us what you know. We’ll ask the right questions and, if needed, point you to the right contact at Step Up for Students to get clarity on your specific account. We’re here to make this easier β€” not add to the confusion.
